Daniel Suárez, the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series Champion, enters 2017 as the newly-named driver of the No. 19 STANLEY Toyota Camry in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for Joe Gibbs Racing. During his two-year tenure in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, the 25-year-old Monterrey, Mexico-native became the first Mexican-born driver to capture a NASCAR national series victory, as well as the fifth Latino driver to win a NASCAR national series race, joining Frank Mundy, Juan Pablo Montoya, Aric Almirola and Nelson Piquet Jr. Suárez concluded his impressive 2016 season with three wins, 19 top-fives, 27 top-10’s, three pole awards and led 347 laps en route to the Championship.
Suárez joins the No. 19 team led by veteran crew chief, Dave Rogers. A Marshfield, VT native, Rogers has worked with several accomplished drivers during his 19 years at Joe Gibbs Racing, including Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, and most recently, 2016 championship-contender Carl Edwards. In 10 Cup Series seasons, Rogers has claimed 18 wins, 85 top-fives, 132 top-10’s and 20 pole awards.
